GetMarci Now works with Icecast2!!!

    Hi everyone!
    I have been working with Marci to develop Icecast2 support and I am happy to announce that there is an alternative now playing widget. I have been using the SHOUTcast version but Loudcaster is not supporting listings on SHOUTcast any longer.

    Here is a statement from the developer:

    "I will update the Marci demo page today so testing with Icecast can be performed. Please DO NOT purchase an account before testing your Icecast server credentials. I have only begun to scratch the surface for Icecast support. Most notably, the track listing is limited to one (1) track, I'm afraid. This is a limitation of Icecast server, not Marci. I will build in support for multiple stored tracks very soon. The other issue is Icecast DOES NOT send the time the track was started. There is nothing I can do about that, sorry."

    Features are:
    1. Highly configurable.
    2. Display artist and album images in multiple sizes.
    3. Integrated voting option and results.
    4. Integrated buy buttons for iTunes and Amazon that will work with your associate account.
    5. Display all track info or just the title, it's entirely up to you.
    6. Cost is around $20 per year.

    ok this is great considering the widget we have ...but when the auto dj is playing it wont work correct being that it is aac ?

    Marci will work with either mp3 or AAC. The now playing on my site is using he AAC feed.

    ok i tried entering in the demo link above ....server ip ..and port...thats in our help file in my dashboard....and in the mount after selecting icecast i entered both /guest_dj and /master_dj ...with and without the back slashes and it keeps coming up with a pop up that says please enter a valid mount point.......do i need to be connected with sam for this to work.....cause the auto dj was running at the time. thanks

    quick question for marci.....i have 2 sites on the same server ones a domain and the other is a sub-domain.....will that work on both or will i need to purchase 2 seperate instances of marci.....thanks

    If it's the same station, I think you can put as many out as you want. You shouldn't need another account. If you have a different station like I do (3 of them) then you would need another account for each station.

    Keep in mind that Marci is for display only. You will still need a play button that would launch your stream. If you need a custom button, just let me know what size you need and I can put one together for you.

    Yes, you can use a wrapper module but you will have to edit the code to make it work i.e. remove the iframe tags and just use the URL of your Marci display. Just don't use the auto height and use no scrolling. Let me know if you need help.

    You might be able to use the "Custom HTML" module as well. Although Joomla can mangle the code if you use an iframe.
