Sunday Scheduling
  • JaysonTannerJaysonTanner January 23
Finding Sundays to be a frustrating time to try and program. The page for displaying, adding, or changing the playlists gets stuck on "working, working, working" mode - used to be this would happen just on Sunday nights but now it seems to be all Sunday long. I'm assuming a lot of us are trying to program our playlists and such on Sundays. Is there any way Sundays can be strengthened to accommodate more of us?

If no one else has noticed this I'm going to have to assume it's my own setup here. Maybe too much strain on the wireless from Time Warner or something?

What browser are you using? I have all but deleted Firefox because of page loads taking an incredibly long time. I have been using Opera primarily.

    Google Chrome. Haven't tried Opera.

Firefox has given me some problems as well lately. Google Chrome for me loads faster and does not have the problems that Firefox did in certain websites. However on Chrome if you tell it to remember your password in certain sites it will give you a jamela error when you come back to the site and you will have to clear EVERYTHING in your browser to allow you to access that site ever again. This happened to me on the site Reaper helped me with and I thought it was his site but nope it was a glitch in Google Chrome. So moral is to clear EVERYTHING in your cache, passwords, cookies and you'll be able to once again access Loudcaster as you did before.

Using wireless to broadcast will always present problems wireless is not stable, also using a computer that you use for other things can be a problem, your broadcast computer should do nothing else but broadcast, because broadcasting requires a lot of broadband

Yes but if you have to use the Broadcast computer for other things, you need to buy the most you can afford. An Alienware or a computer with an Asus motherboard, no less than 8GB of RAM, Windows 7 and a processor of 3Ghz or faster will work. you'll also need a graphics card that has no less than 512 GB of vidio memory. This way you can run other applications and still broadcast. A 64 Bit OS is also a MUST for this type of workload. Your looking at a computer that costs about 3-4K and if you get an Alienware all decked out with the best sound card it will run 7K. However if you know about Electronics you can copy an Alienware motherboard and build an Alenware clone for about 2-3K. The thing to remember is to copy it exactly as the original Alienware (Case does not matter here) but you'll need a 400 Watt power supply to power it and 6 fans or a liquid cooled motherboard for this sucker will run HOT so the cooling system is the MOST important thing. Don't be afraid to spend $300-400 on a UPS (uninterrupted Power Supply). This will keep your computer running for an hour after your power fails. It should give you enough time to run home and shut down the station before it shuts down improperly.

    Hope This Helps.

This would be a nice little broadcast computer from Tiger Direct. It doesn't have a ton of expansion slots, but you shouldn't really need them if used for broadcasting only. Maybe add a solid state hard drive to add to the speed. 4 gigs of RAM would be more than enough. Add your own OS, I suggest Windows 7 Pro, and you would be good to go.
