You need to have at least 2-3 hours worth of music before the DJBot can perform correctly. Otherwise try broadcasting Live till you have enough music to play. You may want to use Winamp with the Shoutcast DSP or edcast DSP (That one has a mic button). If you are more technically enc lined you can try http://radiodj.ro which is also free. You need an encoder however so check it out and hope this helps.

If you can afford to chip in some good money for good broadcast software SAM Broadcaster is the way to fly. I've tried others and feel SAM is the easiest to learn. Plus other DJ's can help you since it is almost the broadcast standard. You can choose the payment plan (Which I recommend) instead of paying the $300 all at once. Think of it as a virtual mixer or for those who ever set up a low power FM station that transmits 1-2 miles the transmitter. It sort of makes you understand why it is so expensive.
  • thanks for your kind information.. can you please guide me now from where i can get music files to upload. as right now i just upload for testing of services which i downloaded from songs.pk and which i think it is not legal to play on radio stations. so can you guide me from where i can get legal source of the files to play on the radio stations.
  • can you suggest me any software like SAM Broadcast software..

    Here are a few sites:

    eMusic
    Amazon
    iTunes
  • Hi,
I've added over a thousand tracks, nothing seems to play at all though. Anyone know what I might be missing in the set-up?

You just hear static non-stop but no music :-/
    Thanks

    Try restarting your DJ Bot.
  • Where on the dashboard is that?
    Thanks for the reply Reaper.
  • I've checked everywhere, every link and page and can't find any djbot restart options at all. Have tried with Explorer & Firefox. The tracks all seem to be listed as added correctly etc. Puzzled.
  • reaperreaper January 17
Go into your dashboard and then click on playlists in the gray area. There should be an option to restart djbot. See image:

  • Ah, my dashboard doesn't look anything like that?! :-/
  • Ok, came back to it after couple of hours and it is now on, great. Thanks Reaper for the replies. My dashboard looks totally different to your picture though, has there been a very recent update?
  • reaperreaper January 17
Yes, I have the old version of the dashboard and will be on the new version when Loudcaster switches legacy broadcasters to the new version. Sorry I couldn't help, I tried. :-)
  • Appreciated, seriously, i am totally new to this today :-)
What's your station, so i can check it out?
  • Cool, thanks, just into work now, so that's some good listening for today!

One further question, is there a URL link to my channel that players like VLC and Winamp can play, like you get with Shoutcast channels?
  • reaperreaper January 18
If your station is listed on SHOUTcast, it is available via SHOUTcast Radio. Loudcaster does not give out the URL for your stream to prevent improper use.
  • Hi Reaper, how do I get listed on Shoutcast then? I see you are by the way ;-)
  • reaperreaper January 18
It was an option when I started with Loudcaster. Not sure if it is still being offered to new broadcasters.
  • Ok, but is there a way to see/find my URL stream, so people can play on Winamp etc?
  • reaperreaper January 18
That would be in violation of Loudcasters ToS, which states:

The license Loudcaster operates within is not passed through to you, it exists on the network where the content is placed. This network consists of Loudcaster.com and official Loudcaster apps. That means someones eye, ears and mouse-clicks go through an official Loudcaster app. If you re-publish your channel outside of the network then you lose the music royalty benefit of Loudcaster. That means Loudcaster plays no role in your broadcast beyond a simple host and you take on the responsibility for any applicable music royalties.

The SHOUTcast listing option was available from Loudcaster, but I do not believe it is available to new broadcasters.
  • kentskryptkentskrypt January 18
Is the Tune In option still available?
  • reaperreaper January 18
I am not sure exactly what options are now available, I do not have access to the same dashboard as new broadcasters. My guess is that if it's not in your dashboard as an option, it's no longer available.
  • thelegacythelegacy January 18
Ohhhh Snap if that is the case this means NO MORE iTunes listeners for me. If this happens to me Loudcaster will be the same as listen2myradio (but pays royalties). I'd still use Loudcaster but I'll need to seriously think about saving $$ and pay for either Loudcity (and get my own server) or hope they don't take me away from Loudcaster V1. I may want to go to http://streamlicensing.com and use http://shoutcast4u.com as a host and this way I can stay legal because http://streamlicensing.com allows your station to be listed on iTunes and they have their player like Loudcaster does.

Again to Brandon: I am not trying to disrespect you, Loudcaster but MOST of my listeners come from iTunes. Therefor I'll do ANYTHING not to lose iTunes!! I am short on $$ due to my Wife's cancer surgery and she is a survivor but to be a survivor cost big bucks.

If Loudcity is own by Brandon I can switch to that or kill Live365 after my gift card dies and get one of the services I mentioned above. Please let this not be a reality that I will lose Shoutcast for this means I will have to check with the other ones.
  • reaperreaper January 18
Legacy broadcasters are grandfathered in and will continue to be listed on SHOUTcast and TuneIn.
  • kentskryptkentskrypt January 19
I can't speak for itunes (not trying to be listed there, yet), but I just signed up and am listed in TuneIn's directory and it works on my 'droid and iphone apps (however the web play isn't working)...currently playing isn't working but when you open up the stream it shows what's playing so something's going night
  • reaperreaper January 19
TuneIn's web player will work with mp3 streams only. If you use the AAC+ stream only you will need a 3rd party AAC+ compatible player such as VLC Player, Winamp or iTunes to listen. Your station page listing on TuneIn will not update with every song without a refresh, only the player will.
  • reaperreaper January 19
FYI, iTunes has quit accepting AAC stations less than 64 k and mp3 streams less than 128k.
  • thelegacythelegacy January 22
I think stations that are already listed will remain there. If not I'll be looking for a host that can output 128K Mp3 as it would be bad to kill the 32K AAC+ streams because there are many mobile listeners who don't have speeds beyond 56K outside 3G and 4G areas. Here in Elizabeth City, NC we struggle for 3G reception. Most is EVDO or 2G.

my station's not listed on iTunes radio as far as I know, yet I look at the stats and I see that people are listening on iTunes. so, go figure. i don't know how that works. but however they can listen - that's cool with me.
  • reaperreaper January 22
I see the same thing. I think that is someone tuned in through TuneIn or SHOUTcast to your AAC stream and their default media player is iTunes.
  • thelegacythelegacy January 25
Yes if they click on the .pls link in TuneIn they can listen in whatever default player they have set. Most people I know like to listen in third party players instead of the web player for it has better sound quality. This is why I wish Loudcaster had a link on your stations launch page to allow this. If by some chance they decide to not allow Shoutcast for new broadcasters or even someday the older ones listeners can still click the link and listen on their third party player. This is makes Live365 inferior (unless the listener is a VIP) then they get the link to listen in a third party player.

My station was listed in the iTunes directory only because I submitted the ip address to them. But again I asked Brandon if that was OK with him. There seems to be alot of controversy in the laws as to rather my station is 100% legal or partially rouge for doing this. If I get complaints from Loudcaster for doing it I'll have to run the shoutcast stream through http://streamlicensing.com and then it would be legal through them. I have a feeling when Loudcaster goes to V2 I may not be on Shoutcast and therefore won't have the ip to submit to iTunes and if this happens I'll have to buy not only a license from http://streamlicensing.com but also I'll be looking at a shoutcast host to allow my station to be on iTunes.

Just to clarify on how my station ended up there in the first place. Its really a grey area so I say if your gonna do this is to get licensed through http://streamlicensing.com and then ask Brandon if you can then submit the ip to iTunes and see what he tells you. I don't want to get anyone (Or myself) for that matter in deep doo doo.
