@sammy7545 that will not affect your monthly charges. That will just eliminate the change in the background images. If switched off, your uploaded background will remain static.

will it have album art ? - Not at this time. It will just display your station logo.
will i be able to adjust the size like the previous widget ? - Yes, but just the height and this is regulated by how many tracks you want to list.

well thank you "big dawg"....i replaced the old code with the new code after following the instructions in the "blog" and i got a zilch....i'll keep messing with it see what happens.....if anyone out there is using "joomla" php let me know if u ran into issues

I use joomla. To put the widget in a module, you must first create a web page with the widget in it. I use HTML Kit to do this. Leave the background color blank. Then upload the webpage to your server and create a new module using a wrapper (iframe). Then just adjust the width and height accordingly. Joomla and Javascript don't play nice together.

so before i go and do all that reaper am i to understand that the old widget which was
working in an iframe module is different then the new? because in the blog it said just replace the old code with the new code..thanks

Before you do anything I would send the code for your widget to Tia in support because they have been having problems with the widget. She can give you a corrected code that will work.

i got the new code from tia thank you reaper....i have to correct myself im not using a "wrapper" module for the widget i was using a joomla 1.6 html module...u can add your code right in there....like i said the original loudcaster widget worked fine there...the new one well not to insult peoples hard work isnt that great...i kinda liked the original one i was able to adjust the width to fit the module ...the "listen now" button was clear and people could see it and there was album art ...i'll have to decide what to do there or wait for the "second" generation widget....again i dont want to insult anyones hard work...im currently building and almost finished with a new home page....our original home page is joomla 1.0 ...the new one is 1.6 if your interested in seeing my hard work check it out reaper being a fellow "joomler"...lol thanks for the help

@reaper ....wow reaper i didnt know there were other programs that did php like joomla.....and to be honest with you joomla is a pain in the cojones...anyways too late now...my goal was to get the new site as close to the original site as possible...the owner of the site "coco" (my best friend) died almost 4 years ago and i'm trying to keep things in tradition ...to make a long story short it took me forever to find a template close to the original one and setting up the site to look like the old one...if your interested heres the current one

as u can see the template on the original one isnt available for joomla 1.6 so i had to find one that was close...wasnt easy and its not perfect but it works.

u know reaper i was thinking about what u said about creating a html file and uploading onto the server and put it in a wrapper module.......as it stands now my widget isnt updating with the song change and i can only figure this is because im using the wrong module.....the question i have is can u suggest a program i can create an html file for this and what kind of options do i have that way ...can i center the widget or even make it wider ?....thanks

well i got the kit and made a few different html files one with the old code and a couple with the new.....the new code works the old code is a no go.heres the deal with the new code tho....its not updating on its own....unless i reload the page manually...and it did this before i used the html kit....if i make the html file with the code and save it and open it in the browser it should change with the song changes right ? i would think so cause when i open it its showing the current song and when i reload the page it shows the correct song.....any clue why it isnt updating on its own ?

Put this code in the HEAD of the html document you created <"META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="15""> and adjust it to refresh at the interval you want. The "15" is fifteen seconds. Be sure to remove the quotes at the beginning and end of the code.

ok update on the widget delemna...if i use the code tia sent me with the refresh code at the top as u suggested in a html module it works but depending on the browser your using either the whole page refreshes or the module expands and contracts as the module updates.....if i use a iwrapper module with the html code made with the html kit it comes up with error 500 (internal server error)....yet...if u directly open the file made with the html kit it brings up the browser and u have to click allow the active x thingy in the info bar and it works.....so if we can get by the whole page refreshing or the module expanding and contracting as it refreshes i think the html module is the way to go....maybe i did something wrong when i made the html file with the kit but again it opens in the browser ..so im confused

right now im using an html_module with the code pasted in there.......it works but in internet explorer the module expands and contracts when it refreshes and in google chrome the whole page refreshes u can see this in action @

One thing, my guess is that you have the module set for auto-height. I would change that and set the height to a static measurement. Then it should not collapse while refreshing.

FYI to all Loudcaster broadcasters, I am talking with Marci about setting up a now playing display that works with an Icecast2 server. Not sure if this will happen, but we will see. They charge $20 a year and their display is highly configurable. You can also display Amazon and iTunes buy links that will work with your accounts. Not sure what type of commission you will make but I figure, what the hell, why not. You can see what the Marci display looks like on my website Party Hitz Radio

i was going to buy marci at one point then loudcaster came along ....and from what i remember it had various sizes u can choose from....i noticed with paryhitz radio that u dont have album art ...did marci change or was that a choice u made...anyways im seriously thinking of going that direction.

I choose not to display the album art. That is not a big deal for me.

quick question about a mobile device....just recently purchased one of these little sylvania 7 inch smartbook with the embedded compact 7 of windows....it has media player 9 on it and with wifi i can get to my loudcaster page but doesnt play any music...do i need a codec or something for acc or can it be just the wifi signal is crap..thanks

Currently we can upload a picture as a background image. Does anyone like the idea of being able to upload more than one background image that our Loudcaster page can rotate through? I think it would be a great way to feature other things about your station through a series of images. One static image tends to get a little... static, after awhile.

I've done that. All you need to do is upload an animated gif.

I'll turn off my artist images so you can see it. I'll turn them back on tomorrow.

My station used to be 93 KXR, now changed to Q 104. I'm under "decades" or type in the search box. (I think I may be in your presets, though).

Disclaimer: I don't know if this is something that LoudCaster wants you to do. Animated GIFs take up considerably more file space and take more time to load. I only did it to see if it could be done. It can be done. Should you do it? Should I do it? I am not condoning that everyone do it. I'm just saying it's possible.

ok nm to that above question.....it seems it is the wifi connection....i played an acc song from the hardrive and it played.....now to get a router and do my own home wifi....more shit for me to read.....lol

I got lucky cuz when I got Road Runner Extreme Internet I got a wifi router and modem combo and I love it. I have little trouble now that Time Warner fixed an issue on their end. It even supports N as well as B/G so this is really nice for wifi as well as wired connections.

optimum cable also supplies us with a free router only if we do the "bundle"...cable phone, internet........i dont really want all that and for 40 bucks i can buy a router...im just no sure which one to get for a small area....i read about "n" and "g" and n is suppose to be better....but the data speeds it sends or the mbps does that matter ? i notice they come in different sizes....thanks
