Future feature request.
  • DocDoc April 2011
I'd like to see the DJBot have a feature that would show the broadcaster HOW MANY SPINS a track has had while in the current playlist. It would make it easy to rotate tracks by number-of-plays...OR a date ADDED to the Bot.

    Just sayin' :)
  • bobbybobby April 2011
    Hey guys

I would also like to request to see if the djbot would have a skip song feature on it please thanks
  • KeolldeeKeolldee April 2011
I doubt the skip feature would be added because that enters the realms of "On Demand" and that would require a different licensing set up.

Spin totals would probably be good for some stations....Personally, I wouldn't use the feature.
  • starrfoxxstarrfoxx April 2011
Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing spin totals too. It would give me a chance to see which tracks haven't played as much. The ones that have played quite a bit you could take down and replace with something new.
  • starrfoxxstarrfoxx April 2011
Now here are two features I'd like to see with playlists:

    1) Ability to drag and rearrange tracks in a different order. Also it would be neat if each track had a number, so that you could easily renumber everything. I like how Netflix does this. You can drag/drop movies in different orders, and you can also change the order of the numbers.

    2) Ability to edit a date/time of a playlist. The only thing we can do now is delete the event and reschedule it.
  • DocDoc April 2011
Spin totals would do exactly that starrfox, and good playlist makers keep track of that, such as Music1. So this is why I would like to see this feature; the ability to "rest" overplayed tracks and "boost" underplayed ones...to "even-out" the spins which makes for a good rotation and a overall good listening experience. Currently I add a TIME & date to all my tracks (ex: 3m52s-04041) suggests the track is 3 min. and 52 seconds long and was added on April 4, 2011. It still doesn't tell me spins but at least I have some way of knowing when the track's life started out which in turn tells me when I might want to "rest" it. But a spin-total would be great!

[NOTE: I'm sure the DJBot is designed to play an "even" rotation, but this feature would allow for more control. Besides, some tracks you might want LESS plays]
  • tobiastobias April 2011
Scheduling playlists had been good. It would be possible for example to have a playlist with special music at night.
  • RavishalRavishal April 2011
The links for Amazon products takes you away from the page and the music STOPS! This is bad for many reasons. It makes much more sense for the link to open a new page and/or tab. That way the music continues and they can come back to the page.
  • reaperreaper April 2011
    Excellent point!
  • 50s4ever50s4ever April 2011
Agreed! In fact I can't think of any link that should shut down the music. This has been mentioned before but so far seems to have gone unnoticed
  • HoolHool June 2011
would love to see how long the the playlist is when creating playlist instead of guessing that you have a 3 hour or more playlist
  • reaperreaper June 2011
Chris, how do you create playlists?
  • HoolHool June 2011
created playlist on the event ssecection on my loudcaster dj dashboard
  • sammy7545sammy7545 July 2011
i have several ideas for future development but im not sure if any are possible....first i would like to see a little longer delay on the auto dj kicken in.....seems like when dj's go from mic to music i see the auto dj wants to kick in......also what would be cool and this is the part im not sure of but if possible when a guest dj takes the stream their photo would show up in the "live" area....maybe where the statistic relays are they put their loudcaster username and password instead of mine and loudcaster links their pic from there....again i dont know if its at all possible.
  • JackJack August 2011
I find the existing events and playlist very cumbersome to use. Is it plausible that playlists could be created on a local computer and then uploaded? As I am unable to live broadcast I am stuck using djbot and playlists.
  • thelegacythelegacy August 2011
Hmmm studio software controlling the DJ But cool idea for those days when our bandwidth acts up.
  • brandonbrandon August 2011
I think it would be great to make playlists in other apps, but it's really up to the app makers if they want to work with us.
  • brandonbrandon August 2011
As a listener I also think it's great when broadcasters pic up the mic an ease off on the automation....and locationg live broadcasters should be eAsier.
  • thelegacythelegacy August 2011
I hear ya Brandon. I've been broadcasting Live more and actually getting requests from time to time from the listeners. And talking to them sure breaks things up too.

    Hey guys

I would like to request to see if this loudcaster icecast server can go up to 128k bitrite please

    thanks
  • thelegacythelegacy October 2011
If not maybe Loudcaster could charge listeners a subscription for the 128K Mp3 sound. I know this will get you more listeners. Maybe even have it Unlimited for vip's. This way you could have 600,000 VIP's if they all subscribed. Maybe have the rate be $7/Mo for each VIP.

Another way would be to go Ad Supported for the 128K stream. I know 128K is more bandwidth this is why I say this and some audiophiles will only listen to a 128K stereo stream or a 64K AAC+ stream however devices like the Roku will not support AAC+ so your stuck with 64K Mp3 which is OK but when listening via a Home Theater system for a few hours you can start to tell it.
  • HoolHool November 2011
I strong recommend waiting at least a year before concidering a vip pricing model. I really like Loudcaster to really distance itself from being a L365 knock off.

I really don't wanna see it happen. in order to grow and be uniqe it has to least not use the live365 blue print.

I would like for someday for loudcaster to create a first party software for broadcaster but however I would like for loudcaster to stir clear of premium service for at least a year or two. if cost to keep this service going get jacked up. I wound concider creating a premium service but only if loudcaster start small to test the water.
  • thelegacythelegacy November 2011
What about Ad Supported you tune in and you get a McDonalds commercial and after that your station tunes in and after that no other ads for the live stream? for AutoDJ there would be a few ads placed every 2nd hour? I say we should get huge sponsors to help us grow. I know folks don't want a Live365 knock off, but its been around since 1999 and has made lots of money despite the fact they don't mass market. Now this too is what Loudcaster could do get partnership with companies like Best Buy, and other Electronics shops. Did you know you can build a Radio station that can transmit 1/3rd of a mile legally? Some shops sell the transmitter. This is where Loudcaster could have broadcaster gift cards similar to iTunes. Why go 1/3rd of a mile when you can reach the world? something like that.

I would like to be able to assign images to show up with my Station IDs and PSAs while in AutoDJ mode.
  • tiatia December 2011
    @rokkusradio

We totally agree!! We're working on a roadmap for future development. Our first step was to make the player allow for such imagery, next will be finding the right ways to allow image additions on the fly. Where, when, by whom, etc. Good stuff :)

    Hey Tia

great work on loudcaster v2 by the way

and Tia 1 quick question to ask please

are you guys going to move our loudcaster stuff to v2 this week

    or is that delayed now

    just wondering

thanks staff for all your great work on this

    thanks
  • tiatia December 2011
    @golfing123

Nothing is delayed. We are migrating channel dashboards on a per-channel basis that we will begin scheduling after we make sure there are no problems with the current release.
  • golfing123golfing123 December 2011
    Hey everyone

I would like to request that loudcaster auto add tags the files that you upload to your loudcaster server

    is that poissable

    thanks
  • tiatia December 2011
    @golfing123

What do you mean auto add tags?
  • KeollKeoll December 2011
I think he means an auto tagger for files....But that's not realistic.....That should be done before uploading your content.
  • kutmusickutmusic January 22
.pls files and the ability to also play outside Loudcaster. At a higher price of course.

    Nicola DJB :)
  • I would like to see a option to have 1 128k feed available that could be used for my L365 relay.
  • HoolHool February 14
I like to see a feedback/email button for listeners and unsigned bands to contact dj's on the station page. that way, they can have easy access to contact the broadcasters. not everyone who runs a loudcaster station has a website.
  • kevin_prrkevin_prr February 14
I would like a form to enter my playlist and all of the necessary meta data that applies to my broadcasts. I chop up the large files and can't seem to get around the noticeable "skips".
  • philcphilc March 10
I would like to run hourly news while on dj bot . A spot where you could drop the file and assign it to play at top of the hour
  • Two suggestions: 1. To have the DJbot wait a little longer before it kicks in would be very helpful with some kind of adjustment tool that could decide how quickly it kicks in. That way I could decide if I wanted a instantaneous DJbot kick in or a delay up to 10 seconds. This way if my software has issues at times, or my upload speed is too weak then this would make it a little less likely to lose listeners if there is a silent gap once in a while instead of bouncing back from a song on the server to one coming from my pc.

    2. When the DJbot kicks in that it could be adjusted to at least start on a new song or something and not continue where it left off (unless somebody wanted it to).
  • thelegacythelegacy March 17
I'd like to see the DJ Bot wait 15-20 seconds. Maybe even do this:

"Please wait while we try to reconnect" This way the audience knows there was a temporary loss in signal and not a DJ high on drugs running a station.
  • This is aesthetic, but consider adding a feature where the Broadcaster’s Directory Image shows up as the broadcaster’s Favicon. Right now, the Favicon is blank.
  • When you click on GUIDE, the search tool for “Channel Name Search” and the various category of music come up. It would, I believe, increase the number of listeners for each broadcaster if the search tool allowed visitors to search using artist name and songs title. Would really like to see the search tool expanded to include artist's name and songs title.
