Launch of Loudcaster V2 and related issues
  • reaperreaper December 2011
As most of you have noticed, Loudcaster V2 has been published. Please note that several issues are being addressed at this time. They are as follows:

    DJ Dashboard accessibility.
    Chat feature.

Please keep Loudcaster V2 issues confined to one thread (this one).

    Thank You
  • golfing123golfing123 December 2011
    Hey staff

will the fallback mountpoints be on the new loudcaster v2

    thanks
  • tiatia December 2011
    Thanks Leo!

    Regarding your dashboards:
No one's dashboard was migrated today. In a bit, you will have a link to your previous Loudcaster dashboard in your current dashboard, and everything will still be managed through that interface with the exception of your images.

    We're looking into chat.
  • golfing123golfing123 December 2011
    Hey guys

are you guys going to email us the link to our old dashboards

    just curious

    thanks
  • WesWes December 2011
My station appears to have successfully rolled over and transitioned without any significant issues. My scheduled "live" broadcast feed from RadioBOSS worked this morning and DJBot has been working without any issues. The only issues I have to report are observations I have previously shared, but I will list them as well being that we are now "Live" on the new Loudcaster 2 user interface...

    Edit Profile:
After attempting to edit the "Tagline" and "Bio" fields of my Profile, clicking the "Update" button is non-responsive and the edits are not saved.

    Broadcast Button:
Clicking the "Broadcast" button in the upper-right corner of the player disrupts the stream and redirects listeners away from the player. The "Broadcast" page (and Broadcast Dashboard) should probably open in their own window without disrupting the station stream or redirecting users away from the player interface.

    Menu Dropdowns:
I am still experiencing the issue with not being able to consistently select from the dropdown menu options presented from the account menu in the upper-right corner of the player. Has this been an issue reported by other users or is this something unique to my own experience?

    Channel Info:
Hovering the cursor over the "Station Name" in the Channel Info window indicates that it is a clickable link. However, clicking on the link is non-responsive and does not produce the intended pop-up information.

Other than those items, everything appears to be working well within the new user interface for my station in this first phase of the Loudcaster 2 rollout. Thanks again for all the hard work and continued great support and service.

Under the dashboard I'm seeing I have the buttons "Edit", "Reports", "Stats", "Listen", and "Widgets". I do not see a button to add/manage tracks. "Listener Slots" and "Storage Gigs" are clickable but do nothing. The "Support" button on top does nothing when clicked.

    Screen cap = http://www.stygiansounds.com/loudcaster.png

Am I missing something? Not seeing tracks, scheduling, changing features, etc...
  • reaperreaper December 2011
@StygianSteel please review Tia's post 3rd from the top of this thread.
  • tiatia December 2011
    @wes
Are you still having problems with editing profiles? I don't seem to be having that issue anymore, we rolled that fix last night. Let me know if its still happening.

The menu dropdown I had hoped was fixed, there was a fix released last night, and I was not experiencing it, but I'll check again.

The channel name should not be a link, as all the available channel information is already in that little box, so we'll fix the name.

  • StygianSteelStygianSteel December 2011
    reaper - Got it
  • golfing123golfing123 December 2011
    Hey staff

can i have the link to my old dashboard right now please

    thanks
  • tiatia December 2011
hey golfing123, you'll get it when we have it. Everyone needs it, its not just you.
  • WesWes December 2011
    @tia

I just now tested the profile editing and dropdown menu selection in Firefox and both worked successfully. However, it appears that both issues remain persistent within Internet Explorer 9. I'll continue testing and advise accordingly.

    Thanks again,

    Hey staff

my old dj dashboard is still missing a few buttons on it

can you guys fix it when you get a chance please

    thanks
  • BombedshaunBombedshaun December 2011
Is there going to be a way to view the desktop site from mobile? I liked to be able to check the stats on the go, or even on the iPad.
  • reaperreaper December 2011
@golfing123, there is nothing missing, just moved to the new dashboard. The old dashboard is missing the edit, stats and widget buttons which can be used in the new dashboard.
  • tiatia December 2011
    @bombedshaun

We will, at some date yet undetermined, have a way to view the desktop site through the mobile interface.
  • golfing123golfing123 December 2011
    Hey reaper

my old dj dashboard is missing the manage subscription button on it

so can you guys fix that when you have some free time please

    thanks
  • reaperreaper December 2011
To access your dashboard, just click on "Broadcast" on any station page. If prompted to sign in just sign in using the same credentials as before. You will see the new dashboard with a link to the old one with the area to upload/edit tracks and find your live settings (these should not have changed). Some of the functions have been moved to the new dashboard (edit, widget and stats) while everything else is the same in the old dashboard.
  • golfing123golfing123 December 2011
    Hey reaper

the manage subscription button is gone on the old dashboard take a look at this screenshot please

@trip, send in a support ticket and I will have Tia take a look at it for you.

    Short summary of current observations...

    Broadcast Button:
This issue appears to be resolved. Clicking the "Broadcast Button" now opens in its own window/tab without interrupting the stream or redirecting away from the player. Nicely done.

    Dropdown Menus:
The dropdown menus are only a problem in Internet Explorer. The dropdowns work fine in Firefox.

    Login Button:
Internet Explorer 9 requires two attempts when logging in. The first attempt produces the login prompt, allows me to enter my credentials, but the "sign-in" button is non-responsive. I can then close the "sign-in" window, click the "Login" button again, re-enter my credentials, click the "sign-in" button and the login is successful. Again, this issue is only being experienced in Internet Explorer 9. Login is working fine when using Firefox.

    Channel Info:
The "Station Name" still appears to be a clickable link when the cursor is hovered. Clicking this link does change the URL in the URL bar of the browser, but does not produce any pop-up or page change. I understand that this link is in the process of being disabled, but thought I'd mention that it remains unresolved.

    Channel Profile "Genre" Editing:
Within the new "Broadcast Dashboard", selecting the "Edit" tab, then attempting to change the "Genre" options within the "Editing Channel Profile"... I can change the genres, click the "Save" button, but the genre changes are not preserved and revert back to the previous settings.

    Chat Messaging:
I understand that this remains a known issue that is currently being addressed, so I shall hold further comment other than reporting that the issue remains unresolved.

Once again, big thanks to the Loudcaster support and development team for your continued efforts to resolve these issues and address our concerns. Wish I could buy a round for the team...

    Cheers for now,

    Wes

I can't access my station from my website because the links appear to be different and I can't sign in to change or fix it.
Signing in tells me that is incorrect information.
The stream appears to be working at Loudcaster but my Statistic relays says I have 0 listeners. It's really screwed up!!!
  • koshermetalkoshermetal December 2011
Chat appears to be working now, but it posts the entered comment at the bottom and not the top...had to scroll down to see it.

Also, website seems to be optimized for mobile, but it won't play the file because it downloads the .m3u to the phone and doesn't open in any media player. TuneIn works fine on AAC though.
  • 50s4ever50s4ever December 2011
Please can someone tell me why my website links don't work any more and why I cannot sign in to my dashboard.
  • tiatia December 2011
    @50s4ever

    Log into loudcaster by
    http://loudcaster.com
Click on login - Click on forgot password - Enter your email address - Click the link in the email to allow you to change it. From there you should be able to see your dashboard.
  • 50s4ever50s4ever December 2011
Tried it but it doesn't work either.
  • EvilliveEvillive December 2011
Love the upgrade so far. Great Job Brandon and everyone at Loudcaster.
Was wondering about stats. Will shoutcast listeners be counted again? Will there be another encoder code for stats as old one does not work anymore?
  • 50s4ever50s4ever December 2011
Am I the only one who cannot sign into my dashboard. Trip, were you able to sign in yet?
  • brandonbrandon December 2011
@50s4ever - we responded to your ticket earlier, please take a look and respond.

@evillive - Thanks...now we have to boil it down to mobile..so your audience can interact and hear you on the fly.

Re: Stats- we're still working on getting those exposed so they can be picked up by apps like SAM, and SPL.

  • 50s4ever50s4ever December 2011
Thanks Brandon. I just realized all your emails were going into my junk folder. Sorry for that. I'll go through them & let you know how I make out.
  • network59network59 December 2011
For anyone with Sam Broadcaster, is your Statistics Relay working? Mine isn't working on my PC nor laptop. I figured might have to do with the update. Holla at ya boy!

    Thanks
  • radiowaynetxradiowaynetx December 2011
network59, do look at Brandon's post that is 2 above your post as he addresses the Stats Relay. I am sure he will let us know when those are working again.

    * No HD stream - 25/25 FIOS connection with Win7/IE9
    * No Android playback (just failed downloads of an app)
    * No information on subscription elections in the old control panel.
    * No ability to turn off the image display (for low-bandwidth connections)
  • reaperreaper December 2011
"No Android playback (just failed downloads of an app)"

@radiodave what Android app are you trying to use/download?
  • radiodaveradiodave December 2011
When I navigate to my site with my HTC Incredible, there is a "Play" button shown in the browser window. I click on the "Play" button and a download is attempted from icecast01.loudcaster.com. The app is shown as and fails. I am using the default browser included with th Incredible.
  • radiodaveradiodave December 2011
Lost the name of the app in the previous window - the name is listed as Unknown.
  • RokkusRadioRokkusRadio December 2011
I am having trouble with the embeddable widget. The code does not seem to work. Anyone else have this problem?
  • RokkusRadioRokkusRadio December 2011
Overall, very, very pleased and impressed with the upgrade. Good work Loudcasters!
  • reaperreaper December 2011
@radiodave, if your station is listed in the TuneIn directory try downloading their app from the Android Market.

    OR

If you have a QR Reader, you can use the link on my website
  • RokkusRadioRokkusRadio December 2011
Disregard my widget problem. I got it working.
  • RokkusRadioRokkusRadio December 2011
OK, here are my quick thoughts on the widget:
    1) Needs to be a separation between the image and the text. My Logo image has white and the white lettering disappears into it. Check it out at www.rokkus.com
    2) Doesn't seem to work in IE 9
    3) It does not auto refresh in Firefox 8
    4) I liked the old one better. I liked the simpler layout and the artist images.

Is there a way to control the image that is displayed during Station IDs and PSAs?

    Thanks.
  • radiodaveradiodave December 2011
@reaper - My stream isn't currently connected to TuneIn, and the account options aren't currently be displayed in the old control panel. Thanks for the tip though! Nice page :) I'll look into this option once the dust starts to settle here.
  • network59network59 December 2011
    Good deal!
  • WesWes December 2011
I'm in agreement with RokkusRadio in regards to the first phase of the Loudcaster 2 upgrade. Big thanks to the entire Loudcaster support team for all the time and effort being poured into this upgrade. Looking forward to the next phase of the rollout, but in the meantime, thought I'd update the list of user interface/player elements that might still need to be cleaned up...

    Loudcaster Logo Link:
The "Loudcaster" logo link in the upper-left corner of the player currently redirects the user away from the player and disrupts the stream. This should probably open as a new window when clicked.

    Top/Bottom Player Frame Horizontal Scrolling:
There is a small amount of play in the horizontal scrolling of the player window. This horizontal scrolling causes the top and bottom of the player frame shift in a manner that seems unintentional. If possible, the horizontal scroll bar should probably not be made available in the browser to ensure the player frame does not unintentionally scroll.

    Channel Info: Social Network Buttons
The social network button links in the bottom-left Channel Info window should probably be cleaned up as the bottoms of the buttons currently appear a bit cut-off and might also look better in color.

    Channel Info: Station Name Hyperlink
In the bottom-left "Channel Info" window, the "Station Name" still appears as a hyperlink. Clicking this link changes to URL in the URL bar which can cause a problem if the user refreshes their browser after having clicked on this link. I believe it was mentioned earlier that the intention is to disable this hyperlink, so I'm just listing this as a reminder...

Chat: Message Window and Post Button
I had mentioned this previously as well, but thought I'd include it on the list for reference... The Chat window could be made more user friendly by providing a more clearly defined messaging "text window" for users to enter their messages, as well as a "Post" button for user's to submit their message.

    Dropdown Menu:
Still experiencing inconsistencies with the dropdown menus from the account menu in the upper-right corner of the player in Internet Explorer 9. Dropdown menus are working fine in Firefox.

Thanks again to the entire Loudcaster team for all the hard work, time and friendly support as the rollout of the Loudcaster 2 release moves forward.

    Following up...

Don't look for the new widget on my site, I have switched back to the old one. No worries, I figure it's a low priority, but I like the old one better.

The IE version came up eventually. It (the new widget) takes a long time to load in Firefox and takes a really long time in IE.

  • eblkhearteblkheart December 2011
I noticed that ever since the change over to v2, my statistic relay info on my SAM software is not connecting/updating. Has this changed?
  • reaperreaper December 2011
@eblkheart Brandon is aware of the statistic relay issue.
  • reaperreaper December 2011
Just to let everyone know, the option to disable the images in your player is now available in the new part of the dashboard under "Add-Ons".
  • tiatia December 2011
    @RokkusRadio

The old widget will only be supported long enough to give people time to switch to the new one.

The data is coming from the same place and shouldn't take that long to load. Which version of IE were you using? Maybe we can figure out why
