Donation buttons from Paypal

If you have a donation button on your site, you may want to consider changing it or removing it. Read this article.

I have removed any buttons from my site.

Good thing we've got a donation solution on the agenda.

Speaking of donations and ways to make $$ if there is an opt in you could partner up with ad publishing sites like Commission Junction or other various publishing sites to allow ads on the site for a commission going towards the stations or a revenue share between Loudcaster and the broadcaster. Maybe even be able to advertise for record labels but able to advertise recordings played on the stations or that meet their genre.

This could help stations to grow.

We've got options, we just have to get through the upgrade process first.

I'm usualy not a fan of paypal and never had used it and never will. I buy into the fact that is safe way for transactions.

I flat refuse to even shop online to places that had only that option.

I still that brand and his team need to work on securing a license of some kind to allow make it possible for broadcaster to make some funds to pay toards there stations in the future after the upgrade is done.

One safe way to buy online is to use a money card. Wal-Mart has one so does Netspend. You put just enough money for the stuff you want to buy online and then you can't get hacked what is not in there. I've had issues with Paypal too but using a Wal Mart money card is easy and safe. For stations that want to have an extra stream running on Loudcity or streamlicensing.com can use a money card and if the Shoutcast host sucks and they try and not cancel you when you ask you can simply not put any more money on the card. After a bit they'll cancel you and you can again use the card for something else. Hope this helps others.

I don't shop online very much. 3 services I used I pay everyone. blockbuster, neflix(for streaming movie only), and Loudcaster.

I only shop at amazon and itune. Second spin everyone once in a while.

i have registered users on my website......if i just publish the paypal button there..where only registered users can see the paypal button would that be ok.....or should i just can the whole paypal button ?

I would think that if you mention that donations are not tax deductible and will be used to offset broadcast expenses, you should be OK. People see the word donation and they think your raising money for a specific cause. It can be a bit deceiving.

Why don't you just make a new button, that says maybe tip jar, or help us, or something like that. I wouldn't use a donation button, even if they are subscribers. And post a blurb with it, saying it's not tax deductable, it's just if they want to help you out.

  • I'm new to Loudcaster...I'm coming in kicking and screaming after a DJ of mine decided to play Robert Plant bootlegs without my consent. He's gone, but I want to expand the playlist...this is become a costly hobby. I've resisted the DONATION button all along, but I really like the idea of calling it a Tip Jar, Beer Money, Chuck's Hookers N' Blow fund...I'll crank something out today.

Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
