Please help! I had no idea I needed additional software!
  • bhaneybhaney October 2011
Well I screwed up :-( I am new at this and I signed up with Loudcaster to start broadcasting my radio show which contains talk and music. I have a co-host and bought a USB mixer with 2 regular mics. However I had no idea that I needed to purchase additional software to broadcast live. I noticed that the best software like Sam. is like $200-$300. Is there anything inexpensive but produces good broadcasting that is compatable with loadcaster? Also should I purchase 2 USB mics or does what I have sound sufficent? I am trying to save money...Please help and advise.

radiowayne notes that SAM does not always play well with USB mics or mixers. radiowayne uses SAM for his folk station with an analog mixer that plugs into the line-in jack on the sound card. radiowayne, when he started almost 12 years ago, used free software to webcast live. He gave up on that after a year to get better quality. He ended up with SAM because it was the least expensive software that he tested that was DMCA compliant and consistently worked well.

But,then again, he could be wrong.

ok I am thinking about getting the SAM Cast (the $199 software). Is this a good choice?

    bhaney,
Like I said on your other post, you could try Station Playlist, and can get it for about $149 and make payments.
That would be Studio standard for $109 and Creator lite for $49. Creator makes your playlists up for you, if you don't need it, then it would only be the $109 for Studio.

radiowayne agrees with trip as he uses Station Playlist for his cajun/zydeco station. It is probably the least expensive that you will find that works well and is DMCA compliant.

I'm getting ready tom purchase station playlist studio standard. Does anyone know if this can be downloaded on the spot after I purchase it or do they mail a disk in the mail? I was hoping to start today!

You should be able to find it in Downloadable version on their website. When you purchase software what happens is that they send you an E+Mail with the serial number. Copy and paste it into the registration field and presto your all set.

Keep a copy of that license code in word or notepad and or print it out.

Remember to factor in some learning curve time as you learn how to setup and use the software.

So is it possible to record your show live.....then replay/rerun it the next evening?
  • radiowaynetxradiowaynetx November 2011
I don't to that on my station using Station Playlist but I believe the encoder will write to an archive stream. The only issue with the replay are sending the id tags while the music parts of the show are playing. This is an issue if you are in the US, not sure about other countries.
