Winamp Q and A
  • reaperreaper September 2011
You can use Winamp to broadcast live. You will need the SHOUTcast DSP Plugin which can be downloaded here: http://www.shoutcast.com/broadcast-tools

To configure Winamp for broadcasting all you need to do is open Winamp and then click on Options> Preferences. In the window on the left scroll down to where it says DSP/Effect. Click on that and highlight Nullsoft SHOUTcast Source DSP v2.2.2 Then click configure plugin. You must use your settings for a SHOUTcast server.

This is where you would enter your server info. I am attaching a screenshot so you know what to look for. Be sure to select the box next to where it say's "Use SHOUTcast v1 mode (For Legacy Servers).

Well I screwed up :-( I am new at this and I signed up with Loudcaster to start broadcasting my radio show which contains talk and music. I have a co-host and bought a USB mixer with 2 regular mics. However I had no idea that I needed to purchase additional software to broadcast live. I noticed that the best software like Sam. is like $200-$300. Is there anything inexpensive but produces good broadcasting that is compatable with loadcaster? Also should I purchase 2 USB mics or does what I have sound sufficent? Please help and advise.

    bhaney,
You could go with Station Playlist. That can be got for around $149, and you can make payments on it. Other than that, there are some free ones out there, but they don't have all the bells and whistles to them.
