Randomizing Tracks with Start and Ending times for Playlist
  • network59network59 July 2011
I'm new to the whole Internet Radio concept and love what Loudcaster has to offer. I was with another server and canceled my subscription with them to join here. I use the DJ Bot 100% of the time and will be doing live shows in the future. For the time being, I want to setup a playlist that play Slow Jams for a few hours out the day. But the only problem is that songs play in one order and I have to arrange them myself each day differently. I'm aware that yall are working on upgrades for LC, but I was wanting to know is will the Random track feature along with the Start and End feature be available for in the next upgrade? Or is there a trick to get the playlist to Randomize?

You can create custom playlists in the "Events" area of your DJ Dashboard. You can set the start time and date.

That I understand. But what I was wanting to know is in the upgrade version that yall are working on for loudcaster, will the "Events" Have a Random Play option for the tracks along with an Ending time to go with the Start time?

We built Events out of the need to have an ordered list of tracks play at a specific time, so they are not likely to help you.

After Loudcaster V2.0 is rolled out we'll start to work on track tagging which is probably what you are looking for. This will enable you to assign multiple categories to your tracks, like Slow Jams, and then build rotation rules that select from these categories randomly, weighted and sequentially.

That sounds great! Can't wait for the updates.

One more thing. My server crashed twice within the last 18 hours. Is there something going on LC side, or am I doing something wrong on my end that I'm not aware of?

Is your station on djbot02.loudcaster.com? Because if it is, I believe it went down at least once. I have one station that is on it and my numbers reset and my listeners were way down today.

Yes I do have that one. It did it again tonight as well. Station was down for over 2 hours.

Mine went down around 5:30 AM this morning. I had like 6 listeners and suddenly only 2. A few days ago I had it drop my live show and go to DJ Bot. It went back to normal so I thought it was my Internet acting up but now I see others had that happen to them as well.

Reaper, I need some help or advice if you got the time. I logged on to see how many listners were on my station, but end up finding my station has crashed again. Do i need to reboot my station daily or something to keep it from crashing or, is it the system? Cause this is like the 3rd time time this week.

I mentioned something to Brandon about this last night via email. He said that his logs show that the server has not been down. Might be a network issue.
  • network59network59 July 2011
Appreciate that. Are you referring to my own network?
  • reaperreaper July 2011
    No, Loudcaster's :-)

Oh ok. Thanks for all the help man. It's greatly appreciated to know there are people you can actually talk to about a problem with the service.
