Tagging your tracks properly.
  • reaperreaper June 2011
I came across this by mistake. I was helping a fellow broadcaster and found that if you have certain characters in your tags, it can play heck with your DJ Bot. It will affect things like skip a track and not play it to not updating whats playing in your widget. Characters that I have identified as causing a problem are ( ) and [ ]. So if you have these in your tags, you may want to clean them up. If anyone else has found others please share with everybody.

I've noticed that the square brackets [] definitely cause problems but I have not had any problems (that I am are of anyway) with the regular brackets (). After all many song titles include brackets () as part of the title.

some have used brackets on live tracks. I do that sometimes for live version and demo version. never use the squre brackets but do use the () bracket.

I've used () and have not seen any issue however special characters like in Blue Oyster Cult and Motley Crue the U having the dots above it and the O in Oyster having the special symble above it messes with Loudcaster big time. This is another reason I'm taking advantage of the HD melt down I had to improve my labeling so as to not reak havoc with Loudcaster and too make a more professional acting station. Thanks for the attention to the square ones too Leo.

I have some tracks with () and [], but I haven't noticed any problems. However, I have seen problems with tracks that have quotation marks in them ("). Those tracks wound up being skipped.

While we are on the subject of tagging, I wish we would be able to have proper characters for certain groups such as Queensryche and Motley Crue. Also, for Japanese bands it would be nice to put titles in that are Japanese since they are that way on the CD.

I think you need to download the language packs for your computer to see them correctly.
  • reaperreaper July 2011
I don't think they were referring their computer. I believe they were talking about how the DJ Bot handles or doesn't handle them.

Do you think a song gets skipped by DJ Bot if the song title has any ( ) " " } { .- - in it?
