Edcast Issues
  • Hi guys,
Edcast is giving me and my DJs fits. The peak meter shows that it is getting audio. The problem we are having after we connect, the peaks stop going and it for the most part freezes and the music on the computer stops playing. I can disconnect sometimes and the audio starts up again.

Switching programs isn't really an option unless the price is free. My station is a very low budget operation as everone is pretty poor.

Thanks for taking the time and hope you can help

@philc uses Radiodj. It looks like a nice free program.

  • I have been playing with that. It is awesome by they stopped supporting DSP with the with version 0.1.5.9. I have tried useing the last supported verson but I do not know how to get the Loudcaster plugin to work with it. That refuses to do install in anything shore of the winamp folder.

You have to use EDCAST Stand alone with radio DJ . Use the input as stereo mix from your sound card . I dont think DSP will be re introduced due to stability problems .. The next version of Radio Dj I hear will have a seperate cart wall and voice tracking ... not bad for a free program :)
  • Thanks Philc. I got that set up like that for myself. My DJ are not as tech savvy. For now, they'll use Winamp unless they want more of a challenge.

As for EDCAST itself, It's working for me again but I have no clue why.

EDCAST seems to be reborn ! It now has a limiter and pre emphasis

    Here is the link http://code.google.com/p/edcast-reborn/
  • Since my first post, I got Radio DJ working wit Edcast.

Edcast will not double report songs like you asked. What happens is then Edcast takes a look at the NowPlaying.txt file it will look too see if the file has been updated or not. If the update time/date on the NowPlaying.txt has changed, it will send a data burst to the server to tell it to change the song title.

If you want to here me use RadioDJ and Edcast together in action, head to http://paragonbroadcasting.com/ during my show Thrusdays from 9:30 PM (EST) till 1:30 AM (EST) Hope that helps
