RadioBoss Q and A

To keep the forums organized and for future users to find archives easier, we should use this thread to post questions about RadioBoss.

If you are having trouble with RadioBoss sending the correct/complete track info, try configuring your encoder to this: $artist$ - $title$ - $album$
  • thelegacythelegacy May 2011
That is what I did and it works like a charm. Plus be sure to check daily to be shure the software is up to date.

This should help get you started with RadioBoss.

    1. If you have the Loudcaster version of RadioBoss, just enter your log in info here and select the channel (station you with to use RadioBoss with).

    2. Once RadioBoss starts, set up your encoder by clicking on settings at the top of the window and then select preferences. Go to Broadcast.

    3. Once you have your encoder set up, next will be creating a playlist for broadcast. To do this, click on "Music Library". Then click on "Add". From here you can add single tracks from your music library or whole folders. Once you get your files entered, save it as an .xml file.

    4. Once saved as a .xml file close that window. Next open the playlist generator. In the bottom of that window. select where it says "File" under where it says Base:. Look for the .xml file you just created. Then click "Generate" but be sure to change the Number Of Tracks in the Generator first. From here, you can export the playlist you just created to the player or save it and create another. In the playlist generator is where you can set up playlist rules as well.

    5. You can fine tune RadioBoss any way you want. I suggest that if you use the Equalizer, you make subtle adjustments and review your changes from your Loudcaster stream. You do not want the VU meter to get into the Red too much, this can cause distortion. To adjust the volume, just slide the Gain up or down.

These are just basic settings for the novice. Once you get your broadcast up and running, you can fine tune any of the settings in RadioBoss to what you feel will work for the type of station you have. Last of all, have fun!!!!

OK Leo I tried to generate a playlist and there is another generator called generator pro and that one will allow me to set the tracks to not repeat for X Minutes and not to repeat the artists for X minutes but I am not sure how to do it with the generator you are showing which is the first one. My HDD failed and I'm putting all my music on my internal 1TB drive built into my new computer. Boy when it rains it pours with me.
  • reaperreaper June 2011
This is the playlist generator that comes with RadioBoss. Once you generate a playlist, just save it as an .m3u. Then you can load that into RadioBoss and run it as created, or run in shuffle mode.

What I am saying is I tried to import it to my player and when I did the list was far from DMCA complient. I mean I say 2 songs from the same artist back to back and it just didn't seam to have any sort of rules. I dono at least with SAM you got some sort of ruling it wasn't quite that bad. Maybe I'm missing something with the playlist generator.
  • reaperreaper June 2011
Good point! Maybe they should look into adding a compliance checker with their Playlist Generator.

The RadioBoss User Manual is available as a .pdf and you can download a copy from DJSoft here.

I am a DJ and plan on doing mixes on my station. I hooked up my turntables to my mixer and it sounded good. I then proceed to broadcast by pressing the mic button on radioboss. As soon as I pressed the mic, the music that was playing started to double time. The song was playing twice offbeat over itself. If that makes any sense. Then as soon as hit the mic button to turn off the broadcast, you only here the song playing regularly. As it was playing, I was listening to it over my phone and you couldn't hear the double time as it was doing it.

What I would like to know is has anyone experienced this problem? And do you know how to end it? Again, it's not effecting the output on the station end, but I can't mix with the music playing double time on my end through my computer speakers.

My guess is that the echo affect you are hearing is a feed back issue. If it is not apparent in your broadcast, I would try a different way to monitor your broadcast. The echo affect can occur if you try and monitor your stream with your mixer's headphone out. Try hooking your headphones up to your speaker out on your soundcard on your broadcast computer.

What are the differences between the Loudcaster version of RadioBoss and regular RadioBoss? And how do I purchase the Loudcaster version?
  • RokkusRadioRokkusRadio December 2011
I'd like to bump up Bombedshaun's comment. What is the difference and how do we buy the Loudcaster version? Does it help LC? What's the deal?
  • reaperreaper December 2011
Sorry, I must have missed @Bombedshaun's comments.

I have not noticed any difference in the Loudcaster version and the Regular RadioBoss version except the Loudcaster Logo and a Loudcaster sign in. The Loudcaster version of RadioBoss is available by sending in a support ticket requesting to buy RadioBoss. Loudcasters version is $125.00 USD,

    Hello

For anyone who has there station listed on TuneIn.com and want to send the current song and artist that is playing to your listing here is how you do it. First of all email broadcaster-support@tunein.com and request a PartnerID and a PartnerKey. In the email say that I have asked my the company that makes my automation software how to access the AIR API with there automation software. They will take 2-3 weeks to get back to you. You have to be patience. They get a lot of requests. Once you have your PartnerID and PartnerKey go into RadioBoss. Go to settings. Then click on Log Files. Go to HTTP Request and put in this:
    http://air.radiotime.com/Playing.ashx?partnerId=&partnerKey=&id=&title=%title&artist=%artist.
Your partnerId replaces, partnerKey replaces, and stationId, including the preliminary 's' replaces . Then click on Use HTTP Request.
Now the current artist and song that is playing on your station will show up on your TuneIn.com listing.

Don't know what happened to the post. If keeps taking out info. View this post instead:

This is also being discussed in this thread.

Thanks to @NounosSon for this info!!!
  • reaperreaper January 19
I have found the staff at TuneIn to be very helpful. I believe they responded to my PartnerID request in less than 24 hours. But, they could be getting swamped with more requests lately, so as suggested by @NounosSon, please be patient :-).
  • When I run radio boss I get connected to server (output 1)

Try setting up your encoder as an Icecast2 encoder.
  • LuvRadioLuvRadio March 16
Hello; So once I download RadioBoss, is there anyother software that I need to operate my station? BTW Reaper....you seem to have all the answers...:)
  • reaperreaper March 16
@LuvRadio, LMAO. I just try and help, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

If you purchase RadioBOSS, it comes bundled with all you need to set up your broadcast.
